Job Title: | COOK, INSTITUTION AND CAFETERIA |
Job Duties: | Clean, cut, and cook meat, fish, or poultry. Cook foodstuffs according to menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions, or numbers of portions to be served. Clean and inspect galley equipment, kitchen appliance s, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation. Apportion and serve food to facility residents, employees, or patrons. Direct activities of one or more workers who assist in preparing and serving meals. Wash pots, pans, dishes, utensils, or other cooking equipment. Compile and maintain records of food use and expenditures. Take inventory of supplies and equipment. Bake breads, rolls, or other pastries. Train new employees. Monitor use of government food commodities to ensure that proper procedures are followed. Monitor menus and spending to ensure that meals are prepared economically. Determine meal prices, based on calculations of ingredient prices. Plan menus that are varied, nutritionally balanced, and appetizing, taking advantage of foods in season and local availability. Requisition food supplies, kitchen equipment, and appliances, based on estimates of future need. |

Qualification Requirements: | Work Experience: number of months required - 12 months Special Requirements - specific skills, licenses/certifications, field(s) of training, and requirements of the job. - Some previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is needed. Using logic and reasoning to identify th e strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Actively looking for ways to help people. Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem- solving and decision-making. 1 year proven experience as a Cook in the School cafeteria, experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware, able to read and follow standardized recipes, required knowledge of proper food handling procedures, able to work as part of a team in a busy school kitchen atmosphere that serves students, culinary classes is a plus. CNMI Food Handlers Certification required for all employees who will work in this job position - COOK. Able to work on weekends and holidays. |
