| Job Duties: | Perform administrative and certain clinical duties, record patient history and personal information, schedule appointments, maintain medical records, request prior authorization from insurance for in-clinic diagnostic testing and surgical procedures. Prior authorization requests must be in accordance with coding policies as defined in the American Medical Association's CPT manual with accurate codes of all diagnoses using the International Classification of Disease (current version). Assist patients with the authorization and referral process such as referrals for specialty care or treatment and additional clinical testing, schedule all surgical procedures through coordination with the hospital facility, provide patient instruction verbally and/or through written correspondence, administer medications as directed by physician. This position is also responsible for ensuring all surgeries are properly pre-certified with the insurance companies and documented in the system. Communicates to facility and/or patient necessary information regarding the authorization or any insurance issues. Verifies patient eligibility with the insurance companies. |
