Job Title: Bus Maintenance and Repair; Bus Driver (SOC Code 49-3031)
Job Duties: Diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul company’s tour buses and vans, and maintain and repair bus diesel engines. Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition. Adjust and reline brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment. Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices. Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery. Must be able to troubleshoot any mechanical problem of company vehicles at any time, and any location. Test drive buses and vans to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly. Raise buses and vans or heavy parts using hydraulic jacks or hoists. Rebuild gas or diesel engines. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions. Recondition and replace parts, pistons, bearings, gears, and valves. Rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels. Specialize in repairing and maintaining parts of the engine, such as fuel injection systems. Align front ends and suspension systems. Inspect, repair, and maintain automotive and mechanical equipment and machinery, such as pumps and compressors. Install or repair accessories. Disassemble and overhaul internal combustion engines, pumps, generators, transmissions, clutches, and differential units. Diagnose and repair vehicle heating and cooling systems. Repair or adjust seats, doors, or windows. Measure vehicle emissions to determine whether they are within acceptable limits. May also work as a tour bus driver, doing duties such as drive vehicles over specified routes or to specified destinations according to time schedules, complying with traffic regulations to ensure that passengers have a smooth and safe ride. Park vehicles at loading areas so that passengers can board. Inspect vehicles and check gas, oil, and water levels prior to departure. Announce stops to passengers. Assist passengers, such as elderly or disabled individuals, on and off bus, ensure they are seated properly, help carry baggage, and answer questions about bus schedules or routes. Collect tickets or cash fares from passengers. Handle passenger emergencies or disruptions. Report delays or accidents. Advise passengers to be seated and orderly while on vehicles. Maintain cleanliness of buses and vans. Load and unload baggage in baggage compartments. Do other related duties.

Qualification Requirements: Minimum 6 months of training in diesel bus maintenance and repair, and minimum 2 year experience as Diesel Bus Maintenance and Repair; Tour Bus Driver in Saipan. Must be skillful and knowledgeable enough to resolve diesel bus and van issues in any situation or conditions. Must be knowledgeable in tour, sightseeing and other destination routes in Saipan. Basic knowledge of tour agency operations.

Fringe Benefits: Compensations: Workers’ Compensation provided. Three-Fourths Guarantee: Workers will be offered employment for a total number of work hours equal to at least three fourths of the workdays of the total period that begins with the first workday after the arrival of the worker at the place of employment or the advertised contractual first date of need, whichever is later, and ends on the expiration date specified in the work contract or in its extensions, if any. Transportation and Subsistence Provided: If the worker completes 50 percent of the work contract period, the employer will provide, reimburse, or advance payment for the worker’s transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, the employer will provide or pay for the worker’s reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or where the employer has appropriately reported a worker’s voluntary abandonment of employment. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved.
