| Job Duties: | To supervise and coordinate all landscaping activities. Prepares or review weekly schedules in accordance with workload and priorities in co-ordination with related departments. Any major changes must have approval of Director of Engineering. Performs routine inspection of landscape areas and interior plants at least weekly and advises Assistant Director of Engineering accordingly. Coordinates and supervises special projects and handles employment of outside contractors. Ensures turf, groundcover, shrubs, exterior and interior vegetation are fertilize on a routine basis. Purchases parts and consumables as needed. Controls and closely monitors all utility consumption to ensure optimum utility usage by landscaping staff. Inspects all landscape and interior plant areas to eliminate any pests and insects on a routine basis. Ensures all branches of palm trees are trimmed regularly. Oversees maintenance of automatic irrigation systems. Ensures regular care of birds, animals, and fish. Follows up with Engineers on all equipment maintenance and required repair. Maintains comprehensive library of manuals and of all plants. Supervises all hazardous work including chemical and pesticide handling; ensures all safety regulations are strictly observed by all employees. Reports to Director of Engineering any abnormal conditions noticed at any time with life safety related equipment or installation. Assists the Director of Engineering in all aspects of the operation as requested. Supervises the landscaping staff in maintaining the landscape areas by cleaning plant debris, moving trash disposals to designated areas on a daily basis. Reviews new products, plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications with the Assistant Director of Engineering and Director of Engineering. Establishes a well organized landscaping store and keep close control on consumption of materials and inventory. Ensures maintenance of weed control in landscaped areas. Ensures daily maintenance of all water features. Performs annual evaluation of all equipment of all landscaping employees. Assists the Assistant Director of Engineering in all matters concerning budget, saving suggestions, and forecasting in order to ensure the adherence to the budget and strict cost control. Assists the Assistant Director of Engineering in all aspects of the Engineering operations as requested. Responsible of the overall direction, co-ordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies operational standards and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. To perform special duties outside the scope in case of emergency, if so called upon. Attend Engineering meetings and other department meeting as required. Able to take care of hotel animals.
