Job Duties: PREPARE AND COOK LARGE QUANTITIES OF FOODS FOR INSTITUTIONS, SUCH AS SCHOOLS, OR CAFETERIAS. CLEAN, CUT, AND COOK MEAT, FISH, OR POULTRY. COOK FOOD ITEMS ACCORDING TO MENUS, SPECIAL DIETARY OR NUTRITIONAL RESTRICTIONS, OR NUMBERS OF PORTIONS TO BE SERVED. CLEAN AND INSPECT GALLEY EQUIPMENT, KITCHEN APPLIANCES, AND WORK AREAS TO ENSURE CLEANLINESS AND FUNCTIONAL OPERATION. DIRECT ACTIVITIES OF ONE OR MORE WORKERS WHO ASSIST IN PREPARING AND SERVING MEALS. TAKE INVENTORY OF FOOD SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT. MONITOR MENUS AND SPENDING TO ENSURE THAT MEALS ARE PREPARED ECONOMICALLY. INSPECT FACILITIES, EQUIPMENT OR SUPPLIES TO ENSURE CONFORMANCE TO STANDARDS. DETERMINE MEAL PRICES, BASED ON CALCULATIONS OF INGREDIENT PRICES. PLAN MENUS THAT ARE VARIED, NUTRITIONALLY BALANCED, AND APPETIZING, TAKING ADVANTAGE OF FOODS IN SEASON AND LOCAL AVAILABILITY. TRAIN FOOD PREPARATION OR FOOD SERVICE PERSONNEL. PREPARE REQUISITION OF FOOD SUPPLIES, KITCHEN EQUIPMENT, AND APPLIANCES, BASED ON CALCULATIONS OF INGREDIENT PRICES. PLAN MENUS THAT ARE VARIED, NUTRITIONALLY BALANCED, AND APPETIZING, TAKING ADVANTAGE OF FOODS IN SEASON AND LOCAL AVAILABILITY. TRAIN FOOD PREPARATION OR FOOD SERVICE PERSONNEL. PREPARES REQUISITION OF FOOD SUPPLIES, KITCHEN EQUIPMENT, AND APPLIANCES, BASED ON ESTIMATES OF FUTURE NEEDS. MAY PERFORM OTHER RELATED DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

Qualification Requirements: MUST BE AT LEAST HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE AND WITH A MINIMUM OF 12 MONTHS EXPERIENCE AS A COOK. MUST BE ABLE TO WORK FLEXIBLE HOURS AND IN EARLY MORNING SHIFT OF 3:00 AM TO 10:30 AM FROM MONDAY TO FRIDAY. PREFERABLY WITH TRAINING OR EXPERIENCE THROUGH ON THE JOB OR APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM IN AN INSTITUTIONAL/INDUSTRIAL KITCHEN. PREFERABLY WITH JOB-RELATED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE IN COOKING LARGE QUANTITIES AND BIG BATCHES OF FOOD SERVING. MUST BE KNOWLEDGEABLE WITH REGARDS TO STANDARD FOOD SAFETY REQUIREMENT WHEN IT COMES TO HANDLING, PREPARATION, AND COOKING OF FOOD MENU. MUST BE ABLE TO LIFT AT LEAST 45 LBS. ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS ON QUALITY CONTROL ANALYSIS TO BE ABLE TO EVALUATE QUALITY OF PERFORMANCE AND MUST HAVE STRESS TOLERANCE TO BE ABLE TO DEAL CALMLY AND EFFECTIVELY IN STRESSFUL SITUATION.

Comments: ANTICIPATED HOURS OF WORK IS MAXIMUM OF 7.50 HOURS PER DAY AND 37.50 HOURS PER WEEK FROM MONDAY TO FRIDAY. WORKERS ARE OFFERED EMPLOYMENT FOR A TOTAL NUMBER OF WORK HOURS EQUAL TO AT LEAST THREE FOURTHS OF THE WORKDAYS OF THE TOTAL PERIOD THAT BEGINS WITH THE FIRST WORKDAY OF EMPLOYMENT AND UP TO THE EXPIRATION OF THE WORK CONTRACT. WORKERS WILL BE PROVIDED TRANSPORTATION AND SUBSISTENCE WHILE TRAVELING FROM THE WORKERS'ORIGIN TO THE PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT AS WELL AS THE RETURN TRANSPORTATION FROM THE POINT OF HIRE.
