Job Title: Marine Engineer
Job Duties: Supervise crew members and train them for routine and emergency duties. Perform monitoring activities to ensure that ships comply with international regulations and standards for life-saving equipment and pollution preventatives. Prepare plans, estimates, design and construction schedules, and contract specifications, including any special provisions. Check, test, and maintain automatic controls and alarm systems. Evaluate operation of marine equipment during acceptance testing and shakedown cruises. Responsible for engineering department’s safe and efficient operation. Reports directly to the Captain. In charge of the day-to-day running operation and maintenance of the main and auxiliary mechanical and electrical systems on board the yacht. Ensures that all planned/routine maintenance takes place in accordance with the guidelines of the IDEA maintenance system and safe shipboard engineering practices. Attend to all defects and breakdown of the equipment’s on board the Yacht. Coordinate and supervise operations involving local engineering contractors. Will be technically inclined and proficient in engineering, yet be able to transition well between engine room work and interacting/ working around Guests whilst upholding super yacht etiquette . Will be responsible for keeping the mechanical side of the yacht running at an optimal level at all times. Will be responsible on repair/fixing everything from the main engines and generators, to smaller pieces of equipment like toilets, pumps, washing machines, refrigerators, air conditioners, icemakers, RO plant, steering gear, power take-off thruster and stabilization units, air compressor and dryer, jet skis, tenders etc. Trouble-shoot and repair virtually everything in the confines of the yacht. Coordinate safety protocols and drills, whilst training the rest of the crew in the use of fire pumps, bilge pumps, fire and watertight doors. Wil be responsible in finding and purchasing parts and consumables for the yacht from local or international suppliers.

Qualification Requirements: Should have at least two years Marine Engineering/shipboard experience, broad working knowledge of maintaining and repairing all mechanical, electrical, electronics, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment onboard the yacht, have good working knowledge of, and be able to work with the following systems onboard the yacht: •CAT 3508 main engines •MTU 16V 2000 M91 main engine •Kohler 2\EFOZD generators •Northern Lights 104KW generators •ZF gearbox transmission system •Trim-tab stabilization system •TECMA units for black and grey water system •380/220 volts and 24 volts BUSBAR distribution systems •Power take-off (PTO) thruster system •Niad zero-speed stabilization system •JETS vacuum units for black and grey water systems •Condaria airconditioning plant •Tecnicomar RO Plant •G&R boilers •G&R pumps, blowers, extraction and ventilation units •Sea water cooled refrigeration plant •Idromar RO plant •Motomar steering and hydraulic units •Cathelco bonding for sea water system •Alfa laval fuel separator •DNZ oily water/bilge water separator •VSAT, AVIT system and smart television •Understanding of International Safety Management (ISM) or Mini ISM, MARPOL, SOLAS and UNCLOS regulations. Preferably a holder of a Y3 or Commercial equivalent Certificate of Competence and all updated STCW 95/2010 amended certificates.
