Job Duties: Mixing, preparing and baking bread and pastries. Bakes specialty recipe being ordered by patrons. Decorates cakes as per customers choices of design like special characters or as specified designs. Bakes volume of pastries and breads for retail store sales. Bakes specialized pastries and specific products as ordered Check the quality of baking ingredients Prepare equipment for baking Measure and weigh flour and other ingredients Combine measured ingredients in mixers or blenders Knead, roll, cut, and shape dough Place dough in pans, molds, or on sheets Set oven temperatures Place and bake items in hot ovens or on grills Observe color and state of products being baked Apply glazes, icings, or other toppings Use dough mixers, cutters, machine breads, commercial ovens for baking. Produce products as per description. Produce various types and quantities of breads, pastries, and other baked goods sold by grocers, wholesalers, restaurants, and institutional food services. must carefully follow instructions for production schedules and recipes. responsible for hiring, training, and supervising their staff. Must budget for and order supplies, set prices, and know how much to produce each day Arranging the display case in an appealing manner. Ordering more supplies. Qualification Requirements: Need over 3 months to a year of work related experience as a baker attend a technical or culinary school or its equivalent Can operate baking equipment and tools Can work flexible hours must be able to lift and carry heavy bags of flour and other ingredients, which often can weigh up to 50 pounds. Can stand on their feet for long periods while they prepare dough, monitor baking, or package baked goods. Must possess basic math skills, especially knowledge of fractions, in order to precisely mix recipes, weigh ingredients, or adjust the mixes Must have an eye for detail because many pastries and cakes require intricate decorations.
