Job Title: PARALEGAL / LEGAL ASSISTANT
Job Duties: a) Prepare legal documents, such as summons, complaint, request for interrogatories, request for production of documents, request for scheduling conference hearing, proposed order, request for entry of default, default judgment, petition to terminate lease agreement, and quiet title, petition for letters of administration and distribution, proposed distribution and order, proposed order appointing administrator, letters of administrator, notice of hearing and notice of creditors, and subpoena. b) Conduct research on relevant laws, regulations, and legal articles c) Gather and arrange evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation d) Write or summarize reports to help lawyers prepare for trials e) Prepare for trial by performing tasks such as organizing exhibits and assist in the preparation of witnesses f) Prepare affidavits or other documents, correspondence, legal documents such as contracts and mortgages g) Get affidavits and other formal statements that may be used as evidence in court h) Help lawyers during trials by handling exhibits, taking notes, or reviewing trial transcripts i) File exhibits, briefs, appeals and other legal documents with the court and opposing counsel j) Call clients, witnesses, lawyers, and outside vendors to schedule interviews, meetings, and depositions k) Meet with clients and other professionals to discuss details of case l) File pleadings with court clerk m) Gather and analyze research data, such as statutes, decisions, and legal articles, codes, and documents n) Call upon witnesses to testify at hearing o) Investigate facts and law of cases and search pertinent sources, such as public records, to determine causes of action and to prepare cases p) Direct and coordinate law office activity, including delivery of subpoenas q) Perform general office duties, such as ordering supplies, maintaining records management database systems, and performing basic bookkeeping work. r) File and retrieve corporate documents, records, and reports. s) Open, sort, and distribute incoming correspondence, including faxes and email. t) Make travel arrangements for attorneys and experts. u) Prepares Power Point Presentation v) Prepares responses to correspondence containing routine inquiries. w) Organize appointments, court hearings, deadlines / due dates, client files (pleadings, discovery, research, etc.), and site visitation x) Research using the Internet and traditional legal resources; LexisNexis, cnmilaw.org, westlaw, internet (google), books / manuals y) Performs the following; interview clients, draft agreement, draft letters, coordinate with other law offices, coordinate with experts, coordinate with the Court, coordinate with government agencies and private entities z) Assist lawyers by investigating facts aa) Research legal precedent bb) Conduct research to support a legal proceeding, to formulate a defense, or to initiate legal action cc) Greet visitors or callers and handle their inquiries or direct them to the appropriate persons according to their needs. dd) Provide clerical support to legal secretaries and prepare immigration papers for foreign workers ee) Train legal secretaries and delegate works to legal secretaries ff) Review and edit correspondence from the legal secretaries gg) Prepares billings and financial statements for each case with costs analysis hh) Performs other works assigned by the lawyer

Qualification Requirements: Bachelor's Degree or foreign equivalent; 2 years experience working in a legal services; should be highly motivated individual and able to work in a fast paced, high volume, dynamic legal environment; Must have good organizational skills; ability to adjust workflow; good legal research skills using the Internet and traditional legal resources; familiarity with using electronic databases; and have proficient oral and written communications skills; working knowledge of the Commonwealth code, rules of civil procedure, probate rules, rules of evidence, and rules of criminal procedure.
