Job Title: Assistant Engineer: Electrical
Job Duties: Under the direct supervision of the Division Manager or his/her designee. As assigned, supervises staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff is trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations. Coordinates and oversees scheduled maintenance activities and small engineering studies to ensure adherence with specifications and standards. Monitors and inspects equipment for performance measures; performs preventative maintenance and assists with mechanical or electrical work; assists with the installation of equipment and related components; and gathers and prepares required hardware and tools. Performs engineering inspections; performs troubleshooting; researches methods and evaluates alternatives for improved efficiencies, and analyzes and recommends corrective measures. Collects and maintains operational data and records; prepares reports, statistics, design calculations, and engineering drawings. Reviews and evaluates vendor proposals; responds to customer inquiries and information requests; Monitors and inventories equipment and supplies; provides recommendations for replacement or procurement of required resources. Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Qualification Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Knowledge of: Applicable Federal, Commonwealth and local laws, codes, regulations and/or ordinances; Supervisory principles, practices and techniques (based on assignment); Engineering and construction principles, methods, practices, and techniques; Surveying methods and techniques; Engineering planning, specification, and drawing methods and techniques; Mathematical concepts; Applicable equipment, controls and systems of assigned area of responsibility; Customer service principles; Safety principles and practices; Data collection techniques; Modern office technology. Skills in: Interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, regulations and standards; Supervising, monitoring, training and evaluating staff (based on assignment); Coordinating and overseeing maintenance activities and engineering studies; Reading and interpreting plans, specifications, maps and related technical documentation; Performing inspections, survey work and collecting and reporting related data; Assisting with mechanical and electrical work and installations; Gathering, organizing, analyzing and evaluating technical data; Researching, troubleshooting and problem solving; Providing critical thinking in analyzing and developing solutions; Providing customer assistance; Researching service or project status and providing feedback; Performing mathematical calculations and estimating resources and costs; Preparing technical reports, drawings, statistics, and related engineering documents; Applying safe work practices; Monitoring equipment and supplies inventory and making replacement recommendations; Reviewing and evaluating vendor proposals; Providing customer service; Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications; Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. Must have a CNMI driver’s license or one from a U.S. jurisdiction. Pre-employment drug testing required.
