Job Title: Carpenter
Job Duties: Ability to work with carpentry tools and materials. Operates various types of woodworking machines and electrical hand tools. Study blueprints, mathematical and analytical skills are necessary to do material estimates. Repair and replace items such as furniture, wall coverings or any other miscellaneous tasks such as wooden polishing etc. Designs, cuts, build and assemble wooded parts or furniture as requested. Remove damaged or defective parts or sections or structures and repair or replace, using hand tools. Inspect ceiling or floor tile, wall coverings, sliding glass, or woodwork to detect broken or damaged structures.. Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors. Or other wooden fixtures used in building, using woodworking machines, carpenter’s hand tools, or power tools. Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean environment. Cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting. Fill cracks, holes or joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives. Apply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces, such as bare wood or metal, for finish coats. Apply paint, stain, varnish, enamel, or other finishes to furniture, equipment, buildings, or other structures, using brushes, spray guns, or rollers. Calculate amounts of required materials and estimate costs, based on surface measurements or work orders. Erect scaffolding or swing gates, or set up ladders, to work above ground level. Remove fixtures such as pictures, door knobs, lamps, or electric switch covers prior to painting. Wash and treat surfaces, with oil, turpentine, mildew remover, or other preparations, and sand rough spots to ensure that finishes will adhere properly. Mix and match colors of paint, stain, or varnish with oil or thinning and drying additives to obtain desired colors and consistencies. Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean environment.
High School Diploma Required? Undetermined
Qualification Requirements: Need anywhere from a few months to one year of work experience as a cabinet maker and finishing carpentry. Experience in painting, quality control, cost control and safety related to maintenance. Have the ability to kneel, bend, carry, walk, stoop, climb and lift items. A High School diploma or higher is required. Must be able to work evenings / weekends / holidays.
