| Job Duties: | *Drive vehicles with capacities greater than 3 tons, to transport materials to and from specified destination. *Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned. *Follow all applicable traffic laws. *Read maps and follow written or verbal geographical directions. *Follow appropriate safety procedures for transporting dangerous goods. *Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to bases or other vehicles, using telephones or two-way radios. *Report serious mechanical problems to the appropriate personnel. *Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order. *Perform emergency repairs, such as changing tires or installing light bulbs, fuses, tire chains, or spark plugs. *Inventory and inspect goods to be moved to determine quantities and conditions. *Load and unload cargo or merchandise. *Communicate with costumers to determine pick-up and delivery needs. *Obtain receipts or signature for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required. *Wrap and secure goods using pads, packing paper, containers or straps. |
