Job Title: Lead Seamstress
Job Duties: • Able to differentiate all types of materials and advise which is best for different types of garments. • Estimate how much a garment will cost to make, based on factors such as time and material requirements. • Able to teach proper seamstress methods to other employees in order to develop their skills. • Handle high pressure work environment while retaining quality of work. • Develop, copy, or adapt designs for garments. • Capable of creating garment patters from scratch. • Fit, alter, repair, and make made-to-measure clothing, according to customers' and company’s specifications and fit, and applying principles of garment design, construction, and styling. • Know how to properly press different types of materials and garments. • Let out or take in seams in suits and other garments to improve fit. • Make garment style changes, such as tapering pant legs, narrowing lapels, and adding or removing padding. • Measure parts such as sleeves or pant legs, and mark or pin-fold alteration lines. • Repair or replace defective garment parts such as pockets, zippers, snaps, buttons, and linings. • Sew garments, using needles and thread or sewing machines. • Take up or let down hems to shorten or lengthen garment parts such as sleeves. • Measure customers, using tape measures, and record measurements. • Follow procedure established by management. • Handling complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts within his/her section. • Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work on time. • Communicate effectively with customers and coworkers. • Determine what alterations are needed to make a customer comfortable while keeping with company guidelines. • Remove stiches without damaging fabric. • Understand the importance of producing quality garments and alterations. • Keep work area clean and organized. • Report accidents, injuries, unsafe work conditions and/or security issues to Manager. • Remain well-mannered and well-groomed as per department and company standards at all times. • Adhere to the company policies and procedures and comply with the Code of Conduct. • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements: • At least 10 years’ experience in Seamstress, Garment Maker or alterations position. • High school graduate or above. • Ability to operate MS Window & Office software. • Knowledge of garment design, construction, styling, and fabric. • Knows how to operate and perform minor maintenance on all types of sewing machines used. • Responsible, self-motivated and independent. • Team player, who values teamwork, has good team building skills and is able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees. • Able to work on flexible shifts including overnights, weekends and holidays on rotation basis. • Fluent in English. • Ability to speak Cantonese or Mandarin is an advantage. • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time while performing duties. • Team player who responds quickly to demands and thrives in a high-pressure work environment. • Able to multi-task.

Comments: Workers Compensation provided. Housing, food and transportation may or may not be provided, contingent on a case-by-case basis.
