| Job Duties: | Management and Supervision. Manage and supervise the daily operation of the In-Patient Pharmacy Department in conformance with all statutes and regulations pertinent to the practice of pharmacy. Ensure all legal and accreditation/certification requirements are met; and comply with all applicable hospital policies, procedures, codes, and standards. Set up the long and short-range goals of the pharmacy based on developments and trends in health care and institutional pharmacy practice and specific needs of the hospital by developing a plan and schedule to achieve its goals, and supervise the implementation of the plan and daily activities associated with it, and determine if the goals and schedule are met by instituting corrective actions, as deemed necessary. Ensure that the hospital has access to pharmaceutical services and a 24-hour pharmacist; and the use of night cabinet is minimized. Ensure that adequate space, equipment, and supplies for the professional and administrative functions of the pharmacy is available at all times. Prepare periodic reports to petitioner CHCC’s administration containing qualitative and quantitative information on the pharmacy’s activities for the period; and the current position of the pharmacy with respect to its long and short-range plans. Prepare and revise, as deemed necessary, operations manual governing all pharmacy functions, and assures that all pharmacy personnel familiarity with the contents of the manual. Establish and maintain policies and procedures in managing drug expenditures which includes such methods as controlled formularies, drug use review programs, and cost-effective clinical services. Supervisory control for pharmacy personnel to ensure that sufficient support personnel (technical and clerical) is available to minimize the use of pharmacists in non-judgmental tasks. Ensure that work schedules, procedures, and assignments use pharmacy personnel and resources in the most effective and efficient manner. Ensure competencies of all pharmacists are maintained through relevant continuing education programs and activities. Establish procedures based on predetermined objectives, for orientations of new personnel and their respective positions. Prepare, review and revise, as deemed necessary, position descriptions for all personnel categories. Routinely evaluate pharmacy personnel work performance. Recruit, employ and discharge of pharmacy personnel. Consultant/advisor to health centers’ dispensaries in Rota Health Center, Rota, MP 96951, and in Tinian Health Center, Tinian, MP 96952; and conduct inspections of the facilities to assure compliance with all applicable local and federal pharmaceutical regulations. Safe Medication Practices. Dispense drugs prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners and provide accurate, comprehensive information about drugs and their use to health practitioners and patients alike, and serve as drug information center. Responsible for the procurement, distribution, and control of all drugs used within the hospital to the extent of drugs and related services provided to ambulatory patients; develop, maintain policies and procedures governing these functions to ensure that drug supplies are adequately available at all times. Responsible for coordinating clinical pharmacy services and ensures that the pharmacy provides optimal clinical services; facilitates the development, implementation, and maintenance of systems that promote desirable patient outcomes through the use of safe, appropriate, cost-effective medication therapies. Establish and maintain an ongoing, systematic program to assure the quality of pharmaceutical services which integrated with the Corporation’s organized quality-assurance program. Adherence to relevant standards and guidelines of the American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Responsible for the hospital’s drug formulary/file in Electronic Health Records (EHR) and serve as System Manager for automated dispensing cabinet (PYXIS) in Emergency Room. Serve on the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee in the role of Secretary and is responsible in the preparation of meeting agenda and its minutes; collaborate with the medical staff in the development of policies and procedures for assuring the quality of drug therapy. |

| Qualification Requirements: | Bachelor's Degree in pharmacy from an ACPE approved/accredited School of Pharmacy or foreign degree equivalent as certified by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP). Minimum of five years experience in an acute or chronic care hospital in-patient pharmacy as a staff or clinical pharmacist. Licensed to practice pharmacy in at least one U.S. state and the CNMI or be eligible for licensure in the CNMI before the start date of employment. Knowledge of PYXIS operation preferable. NOTE: Education and training claimed in the Application for Employment must be substantiated by diploma, certificate or license and original police clearance. Failure to provide complete application form or the required documents will result in automatic disqualification. |
