| Job Duties: | Under the direct supervision of the Chief Accountant or his/her designee. May lead or supervise staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff is trained; making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations. Maintains, monitors and balances assigned funds. Performs professional accounting duties, including but not limited to: project accounting, grants reporting and management, Public Utilities Commission (PUC) compliance reporting; utility rate case data analysis and reporting, general journal entry preparation and posting/analyzing accounts; assisting with annual audits including preparation of audit schedules. Prepares, reviews, and submits a variety of reports, reconciliations, and statements to and from internal departments, financial institutions, and/or :Local, State, and Federal agencies. Performs month-end and year-end closing of books of accounts; Prepares analyses of inventory and participates in periodic physical inventories. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. |

| Qualification Requirements: | Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and four (4) years of professional level accounting or auditing experience. Knowledge of: Supervisory principles; Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and applicable laws, rules and regulations, Intermediate mathematics. Skills in: Monitoring and evaluating staff; Prioritizing and assigning work to staff, Interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, regulations and standards; Performing mathematical calculations; Researching technical issues, solving problems and providing solutions; Applying accounting procedures and principles; Recording, analyzing, reconciling, and reporting accounting transactions; Operating a 10-key machine, Preparing and analyzing financial statements and reports; Using computers and related software applications including intermediate to advanced knowledge using MS Excel; Communications, interpersonal skill as applied to interaction with co-workers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. Preferred experience/skills: include recent (within most recent 12 months) project and fund accounting experience (either external or internal) Applicants may be tested.
