| Job Duties: | Examines teeth, gums, mouth tissue, and bone supporting the teeth to diagnose diseases, and abnormalities, and to assess injuries. Uses various diagnostic tools and equipment to make diagnosis and prognostic assessments, including dental tools, x-rays, cone-beam CT scan, and soft tissue biopsies, and formulates plan of treatment. Performs oral or periodontal surgery and non-surgical procedures to treat diseases, abnormalities and injuries including, performing open flap debridement to remove the calculus in deep sites on the root surface of the teeth; extraction of hopeless teeth; preservation of the bone; regenerative surgery to regenerate periodontal tissue to bone and gum around the teeth and dental implants, and placement of dental implants. Advises patients on periodontal dental care, causes and treatment of dental problems, and preventive measures |
