Job Title: Medical and Health Services Manager: Medical Billing
Job Duties: Job Duties: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Conducts and reviews billing operations, including managing accounts receivable, planning budgets, establishing rates for services, and coordinating all billing reporting. 2. Assists in the management and evaluation of work activities of medical, nursing, technical, and other personnel involved in the billing process. 3. Manages communication between governing board, medical staff, and department heads relevant to the billing process. 4. Reviews and analyzes facility activities and data to aid planning and cash and risk management and to improve service utilization. 5. Establishes work schedules and assignments for billing staff. 6. Maintains awareness of advances in medicine, computerized diagnostic and treatment equipment, data processing technology, government regulations, Medicare and Medicaid and health insurance. 7. Manages and maintains computerized record management systems to store and process billing-related data and to produce reports. 8. Ensures timely, accurate submission of claims. 9. Communicates with insurance companies to verify patient coverage and obtain information concerning extent of benefits. 10. Responsible for negotiating contracts and service rates with commercial insurance providers, and other entities for services offered by the company. 11. Completes insurance assignment form with data such as names of insurance company, and policy holder, policy number, and physician diagnosis. 12. Reviews, verifies and approves claims with pertinent documents and submits to insurance companies per standard billing procedure. 13. Computes total patient bill showing amounts to be paid by insurance company and by patient; answers any patients’ questions regarding billing statements and insurance coverage and follow up on unpaid insurance and/or patient claim. 14. Manages and maintains files of all billed claims, and documents; maintains a follow-up system in a timely manner. 15. Audits claims prior to submission for completeness. 16. Advises and maintains with Administrator and/or Board updated fee schedule, criteria, correspondences, and all other information pertaining to each services offered by the company. 17. Prepares, maintains and manages spreadsheet database for medical and healthcare-related billing. 18. Performs additional related duties and responsibilities as requested by the Administrator.

Qualification Requirements: 1. Bachelor’s degree in a professional healthcare-related field 2. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in healthcare billing 3. Experience and expertise in Medicare, Medicaid and insurance processing 4. Knowledge of medical terminology and coding 5. Computer skills in areas of electronic claim submission and data entry/report generation
