Job Title: Optician
Job Duties: Design, measure, fit, and adapt lenses and frames for client according to written optical prescription or specification and recommend specific lenses, lens coatings, and frames to suit client needs. Assist client with selecting frames and instruct them on how to wear and care for eyeglasses. Measure customer for size of eyeglasses and coordinate frames with facial and eye measurements and optical prescription and measure clients' bridge and eye size, temple length, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and optical centers or eyes, using measuring devices. Prepare work order for optical laboratory containing instructions for grinding and mounting lenses in frames, heat, shape, or bend plastic or metal frames to adjust eyeglasses to fit clients, using pliers and hands. Evaluate prescriptions in conjunction with clients' vocational and avocational visual requirements. Verify exactness of finished lens spectacles. Adjust frame and lens position to fit client. May shape or reshape frames. Maintain records of customer prescriptions, work orders, and payments.

Qualification Requirements: Associate's Degree required. Must have a high level of standard or patient care/ Must have knowledge to cut, grind, and polish eyeglasses, contact lenses, or other precision optical elements. Assemble and mount lenses into frames or process other optical elements. Includes precision lens polishers or grinders, centerer-edgers, and lens mounters. Must have knowledge in principles processes for providing customer, and personal services which includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Have knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and other application.
